Brahmatal
A classic snow trek featuring frozen alpine lakes and breathtaking views of Mt Trishul and Nanda Ghunti.
About the Brahmatal trek
Brahmatal is a classic winter snow trek in Uttarakhand, named after the sacred alpine lake at 12,250 ft. The trail passes through rhododendron forests, frozen Bekaltal lake, and open ridges with views of Mt Trishul and Nanda Ghunti.
Best season
December through March is the prime snow-trekking window. January and February typically offer the deepest snow, while March brings longer days and milder temperatures.
Who is this trek for?
- First-time winter trekkers wanting a summit experience
- Those who enjoy snow camping and ridge walks
- Trekkers looking for a shorter-duration snow trek (6 days)
What to expect on the trail
The trek starts from Lohajung and climbs to Bekaltal, then onward to Brahmatal camp. Summit day offers sweeping Himalayan panoramas before descending through the forest. Nights at high camp, under stars with snow all around, are among the trek's most memorable moments.
Himalayan Ibex equips trekkers with proper layering guidance and runs small groups led by experienced winter-trek staff.
