Buran Ghati is an adventure-packed trek in Himachal Pradesh that combines forests, alpine meadows, glacial lakes, and one of the Himalayas' most thrilling pass descents. At 15,000 ft, the Buran Pass crossing — including a famous snow wall descent — makes this a favourite among experienced trekkers.
Best season
May through October is the operating season. Snow on the pass clears by late May; June and September offer the most stable conditions for the pass crossing and Chandranahan Lake visit.

What to expect on the trail
Starting from Janglik near Shimla, the trail climbs through Dayara Meadows and Litham to Dhunda base camp. Pass day crosses Buran Ghati with its renowned snow wall descent, followed by river camps and the descent to Barua. Chandranahan Lake, visited en route, adds a sacred alpine lake to an already action-packed itinerary.
