Bhrigu Lake
A short high-altitude trek from Manali leading to the sacred alpine Bhrigu Lake.
About the Bhrigu Lake trek
Bhrigu Lake is a short, high-altitude trek from Manali to a sacred alpine lake at 14,100 ft. In just four days, you climb through lush meadows to a glacial lake surrounded by Himalayan peaks — making it one of Himachal's best weekend treks.
Best season
May through October is the operating window. June and September offer the clearest weather. July and August bring monsoon clouds but also green meadows.
Who is this trek for?
- Weekend trekkers based in Delhi or Chandigarh
- Moderate fitness levels; some prior trekking helps at this altitude
- Those wanting a high-altitude lake experience without a long commitment
What to expect on the trail
Starting from Gulaba near Manali, the trail climbs through Rola Kholi to Bhrigu Lake. The lake sits in a natural amphitheatre of peaks, often partially frozen even in summer. The short duration belies the altitude — proper acclimatisation and hydration are essential.
Himalayan Ibex keeps groups small and builds in acclimatisation time to make the most of this compact but rewarding trek.
